00:00:57

Please help me welcome Pamela to the show.

00:01:04

It's so nice to have you here.

00:01:07

Everybody is dying to.

00:01:08

Know what it is that you do?

00:01:13

OK, so I am holistic Scottish midwife. I did I done over 2000 deliveries. I did home deliveries but I then stopped doing them because it was complicated in France.

00:01:29

And for the last couple of years, I've just been trying to find out where my passion and where I wanted to go.

00:01:37

And it's just recently in the last 18 months, I suddenly realized that people were just having so many problems with their hormones and in the menopause.

00:01:49

And I thought, well, I could do the menopause, but then I thought, no, you need to go earlier.

00:01:53

You need to get people, younger people, even adult adolescents, need to understand their monthly cycle because women don't.

00:02:02

And that's what has become my.

00:02:04

Passion and a chart that I've looked at for years.

00:02:08

All of a sudden I got this.

00:02:09

Ah, that if I can take teach people how to know where they are in this cycle, they can understand how their hormones are and they can manage their hormones just for example.

00:02:23

You couldn't tell husbands this.

00:02:24

I could save marriages.

00:02:26

Because if a husband's got a delicate topic to discuss, never do it just before your period or during your period.

00:02:34

Do it on day 10, you'll get a completely different answer and that became my passion and I just.

00:02:41

That's my mission.

00:02:42

I just want out to get it out there so that people can understand it's not their moods.

00:02:47

It's the hormones, and by changing your diet, by changing your sleep habits.

00:02:52

Just by changing your lifestyle, you can really empower yourself.

00:02:58

I think women more than men tend to have.

00:03:00

Of need to live in a flow guys, their hormones are always pretty much the same.

00:03:07

Yeah, they might go up and down a little bit, but women are on a cycle and there's different things during the month that are more advantageous to you.

00:03:17

I think is what I hear you saying and.

00:03:21

If you can allow your body to.

00:03:24

Like live in that rhythm.

00:03:27

You're going to have a much better life just in general.

00:03:32

But what you said was actually very true, because we all have this circadian rhythm, which allows us to have a sleep or metabolism, digestion, elimination and all that.

00:03:43

Now we have that and so do the men.

00:03:45

OK, but we have another cycle.

00:03:47

Is it in for day?

00:03:48

And the cycle, which is up monthly cycle.

00:03:51

So every single day of our monthly.

00:03:53

Cycle we are not the same hormonally, and that's what women have to understand, because why is it we're always told?

00:04:00

Oh, it's your hormones.

00:04:03

But you're just.

00:04:04

Your Homans it's a 5A500A5 hundred $531 million industry.

00:04:15

So just to say that it's your hormones, I think that's underestimating it.

00:04:19

And I think that we as women need to know that.

00:04:23

And give the get the power back to us because it's not talked about enough.

00:04:28

You know, people don't admit.

00:04:31

You know, kids, kids don't learn it and you get the sex education, but that's really just the mechanics and.

00:04:38

You know the.

00:04:40

What to do when versus?

00:04:43

What is your body doing and how can you live in alignment?

00:04:47

With your body.

00:04:49

That would be such a powerful.

00:04:52

Message to get to young girls and then.

00:04:56

What about menopause?

00:04:57

When you're in menopause, do you still say?

00:05:01

What are your?

00:05:02

But if you, if you've known what your cycle is from teenager, then that's going to help you with your fertility.

00:05:09

That's going to help you not get pregnant or get pregnant.

00:05:12

And when you want.

00:05:13

But as you go into the perimenopause because the menopause is only one day, the menopause.

00:05:20

This when you have not had a period for 12 months consecutively, then you are in menopause.

00:05:28

Or beforehand is a perimenopause or the post menopause, so this this whole thing is like oh this menopause problem.

00:05:35

No, you're not in menopause until you've had 12 months without.

00:05:38

Your period and.

00:05:40

All this is.

00:05:41

False information and I think one of the reasons I got so passionate was about it, a lady wrote in.

00:05:46

A blog and she said, I think I might be in the menopause.

00:05:50

I think I lost my gynecologist.

00:05:54

You should know that and that's where my passion has come is to get people between 25 and 40 interested into their periods so that they can use it to empower themselves.

00:06:07

And then when they.

00:06:08

Are going into the menopause.

00:06:10

Then they can look at it at a different level, you know, cause menopause.

00:06:13

Is, is, is isn't an amazing period because you're going into different part of your life and it it can be very enriching.

00:06:24

Yeah, from personal experience, I can say that I think.

00:06:28

Post menopause has been the best part of my life so.

00:06:35

How did you get started in this?

00:06:38

Well, basically I'm as a nurse and I'm a midwife, and I've been a midwife for over 40 years and all along the way I always looked for natural remedies, so I did reflexology.

00:06:52

I'm an aromatheripist so I was always trying to find natural remedies.

00:06:57

Because I believe in God, and I think we've got so many beautiful plants in.

00:07:00

This world, he.

00:07:01

Gave them to us.

00:07:02

So why don't we use them and so?

00:07:04

Therefore I would always try and find a natural solution.

00:07:08

Now I'm not saying we don't need conventional medicine.

00:07:12

And I'm here because I had a car accident with my third daughter and I was in a coma.

00:07:17

So I had to have her by caesarean if we didn't have the conventional medicine, I wouldn't be here.

00:07:22

But after all that.

00:07:24

I mean, I had a lot of medicine, so I had to do some serious detoxing with natural remedies.

00:07:31

So I think it completes each other.

00:07:34

I never say it's an alternative method.

00:07:36

I say it it's a complementary method, so the two go hand in hand and you know if people want to take home and replacement therapy.

00:07:46

I'm just not a great believer in it.

00:07:48

And I find natural solutions and.

00:07:50

So therefore, the more I've.

00:07:52

Seen I've got the medical training, but sometimes medical training isn't logical and so therefore I've never liked it when he just says, well, we just need.

00:08:02

To do this.

00:08:05

And so I always ask the question and then if I could find a natural solution, then I found it.

00:08:11

Most of the the deliveries that I helped ladies with, they came out naturally because that's what they wanted and because we we respected nature.

00:08:20

OK.

00:08:21

So that's that's my domain.

00:08:23

I'm not the right person.

00:08:24

If somebody wants to listen to the doctor, do the medicine route, do whatever.

00:08:30

That's not me.

00:08:31

I just believe there's another way.

00:08:33

And for people that want the solution, we can always find a.

00:08:38

And that's why I'm just.

00:08:39

Passionate about it.

00:08:40

I I think that's really amazing and I think that you hit on something that sometimes people either don't know that there are natural solutions to things or they're not open to looking at complementary, not necessarily alternative.

00:08:58

Things that you can do like you can go along and you can do the the pharmaceutical intervention until the other more natural and the way that your body wants to heal can can pick it up and move on.

00:09:17

I've seen that work a lot of times.

00:09:20

Or just.

00:09:22

Just another thing.

00:09:23

She came to see me.

00:09:25

She was on two sleeping tablets.

00:09:27

OK.

00:09:28

And so I gave her a magnetic mattress.

00:09:32

She loved it.

00:09:33

She felt so much better.

00:09:36

So she got that she was sleeping better, but she still needing her sleeping tablets.

00:09:40

And it took us six months to slowly wean it.

00:09:44

Off, you know, so it's not, you can just say, OK, don't take don't take this medicine and try this.

00:09:50

It doesn't work.

00:09:51

Sometimes you need the combination of two, and because I'm medically trained, I I can understand the medical way how the body functions and how we can with working with the doctor, working with you, what's right for you.

00:10:05

I mean, I could maybe take you.

00:10:07

But it's got to be a win, win situation.

00:10:10

For, for, for everyone.

00:10:13

And some of it is.

00:10:14

It's very holistic, some of it's mental, you know, and some of it's physical and some of it's just spiritual or energetic energy.

00:10:25

And the three of them together instead of just like it's all physical and it's just this one.

00:10:35

Which is often what happens when you go to a doctor.

00:10:38

They just look at the one thing that you're complaining about, forgetting that there's all these other components to it.

00:10:45

And often I find that if you have somebody at a coach like you are who is specializing in a certain area that they can get.

00:10:57

You can you can get more information.

00:11:00

To use in.

00:11:01

Conjunction with what your doctor is saying.

00:11:03

I'm not saying never go to the doctor and I'm never.

00:11:05

I'm not saying that there's never A use for pharmaceutical intervention because I do believe that there.

00:11:12

Is a time and a place for drugs, but.

00:11:17

And doctors these days are like, phenomenal when it comes to crisis management.

00:11:23

You break a bone.

00:11:25

The doctor's office.

00:11:31

Having coaches around and available now like there never has been so many opportunities to reach out and connect with people to find solutions to your problems and the coaches are more likely to look for like the.

00:11:49

The genesis of what's causing your problem, rather than just trying to mask the symptoms or mitigate the symptoms.

00:11:59

And I agree totally.

00:12:00

I think you know, you always have to find the reason.

00:12:02

Like, I was talking to somebody and he said, oh, I didn't sleep well.

00:12:05

I said so.

00:12:05

Why didn't you sleep?

00:12:06

Well, you know?

00:12:07

And I asked him loads of questions and he said, oh, I like the way.

00:12:10

That you're asking?

00:12:11

The questions because nobody had ever said that, you know, you go to the dot, say, I don't sleep well.

00:12:15

Here you are.

00:12:16

I have a table.

00:12:18

Yeah, and but yeah, but why aren't?

00:12:21

You sleeping well?

00:12:22

Is it that you're using your phone too late into the night?

00:12:26

Listen to nice music, have a shower, change your routine because.

00:12:30

Why didn't adult?

00:12:32

We put babies into routines for going to sleep.

00:12:35

Why on Earth don't we do it ourselves?

00:12:39

Very true, very true.

00:12:40

And even if I, my husband and I, he was a truck driver, so he's only been off the road for a couple of years.

00:12:47

But we've decided to drink tea.

00:12:49

At night, it's our.

00:12:52

We drink it around, you know, 99 ish. And then we turn lights out at 10 and.

00:13:00

It's kind of like a miracle thing for me because.

00:13:04

I fall asleep at 10.

00:13:07

I don't have any trouble with it and he does too, but I think it's just the, you know, we drink chamomile tea, which we believe and a part of it is just what we believe helps us fall asleep.

00:13:21

So better than taking tablets, I guess.

00:13:26

Little bit, but it's also the way that.

00:13:28

You present things I like.

00:13:30

I remember I was in a gynecology.

00:13:32

Board and after gynecology treatments, you often have a lot of bloating and a lot of gas and.

00:13:39

So there was.

00:13:40

An indication that you could have or I gave them.

00:13:42

I said I could give you this amazing Scottish herbal remedy so you can either have this wonderful, amazing Scottish herbal remedy or you could have the pill.

00:13:52

Everyone took the herbal remedy.

00:13:55

Because I gave it with such conviction and I knew it would work and.

00:13:58

It did work, but I had to calm it down because it they then started telling the doctors that that this was better.

00:14:04

Than his pills so.

00:14:07

Bit complicated, right?

00:14:09

And it's really hard to sell the natural thing for a.

00:14:11

Lot of money.

00:14:16

Always comes down to.

00:14:17

That. So let's look at what is your #1 struggle.

00:14:22

With your business.

00:14:25

My #1 struggle is.

00:14:28

And when I was an active midwife doing home deliveries, I never had to look for clients because they found me.

00:14:38

I got a reputation and so therefore by rebranding myself I had a hard time to have to accept that I have to go out and rebrand myself.

00:14:50

You know, I'm 65 and I just felt that I shouldn't needed to be doing this. So once I've got a got over that.

00:14:57

So my problem is is getting the message out.

00:15:00

I've made huge progress on social media talking in front of the camera because a year ago I would never be able.

00:15:07

To do this, and so that's been my biggest learning curve and for that you know I I joined a great community and also my daughter Olivia is absolutely she's just she's always, you know and this you know she can do screen share and she can sort out problems in 2 minutes where I could have taken about an hour.

00:15:28

So it's just about rebranding myself and getting the message out there to get people or women really to understand they need to take.

00:15:38

Their monthly cycles more serious because it does affect you in all aspects and that's and that's the message I want.

00:15:47

So it's just me having to get out there and find new clients and get different openings at on social media that people can see where I am.

00:15:58

Because I'm sure that once people see and think differently, then there there's going to be a lot of people that need this.

00:16:07

I couldn't agree with you more, Pamela and I really appreciate you coming on and sharing.

00:16:13

With us? What?

00:16:14

It is that you're doing to make a difference in the world.

00:16:18

Ohh, thank you Jill for.

00:16:19

Giving me this opportunity because this is for me, is the more people that can see and the more people I may think that they can say ohh, maybe I do need to look into it because we as women often don't pay as much attention as we should to our monthly.

00:16:34

Cycles and I think that's what that's got to change. So I'm concentrating on 25 to 40 year olds because then I'm hoping they're going to be mothers. So they will be able to then teach their children and then in time I will be working on a school program for getting into schools. But that's more complicated because.

00:16:54

There's no funding for it.

00:16:57

And it's tough, but it's not impossible and it is my goal.

00:17:04

That's an admirable goal, so I.

00:17:06

Should ask you before.

00:17:07

We before we leave, where?

00:17:09

Where can people get ahold?

00:17:10

Of you get in touch with you.

00:17:13

I think I gave you my, my, my.

00:17:16

I'm on Facebook.

00:17:19

I have a Facebook group called Rage to Radiance and that's a free group that you can just all join in.

00:17:26

And I give daily post day daily ideas that they can then communicate with me.

00:17:31

And I'm in France.

00:17:33

So I know there's an hour difference, so I'm in in WhatsApp or I've got my site which is Pamela.

00:17:41

00:17:45

Perfect.

00:17:45

And we will put those links in the description below the podcast so people can reach out to.

00:17:52

You and connect. Thanks again.

00:17:55

Even just ask me any question.

00:17:58

And no question is stupid enough, and sometimes it's the most simple thing, and that can completely change.

00:18:04

I mean, just like you drinking your chamomile tea, you could drink rooibos tea.

00:18:10

That's very hormonal.

00:18:11

And that could change your hormonal balance so that it's not.

00:18:15

It's not complicated to manage your hormones.

00:18:18

It's just very simple, but it just takes a little bit of time and thinking out-of-the-box.

00:18:24

And knowing what your options are, which I believe.

00:18:29

You help people with.

00:18:31

So thanks again for joining us.

00:18:33

I I just.

00:18:34

I never, yeah.

00:18:35

OK. Thank you so much.

00:18:37

Bye bye.
