::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Hi and welcome to the Uworld order showcase. Podcast I'm your host, Jill Hart. And today I have with me Arianna Durand, who is a personal coach, animal communicator and dog trainer who is passionate about empowering individuals to reach their full potential. Her mission goes beyond traditional dog training. It's about fostering genuine connections, personal growth
2
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: and leading with harmony and love. With over 30 years of experience she focuses on inspiration, over control, fostering an environment where confidence and transformation naturally thrive. She's also the author of Be the change for your dog. Welcome to the show, Arianna. It's really great to have you here.
3
::Arianne de Rond: Thank you. What a great introduction! Thank you so much for inviting me and being here, I love your podcast.
4
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Well, thank you. We love having interesting people on to talk.
5
::Arianne de Rond: You have many. I know that.
6
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I have talked to quite a few people, but very few of them. I don't think I've ever talked to anybody who is about
7
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: helping people with their their pets, their dogs specifically. But I think probably what you're talking about would transform
8
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: or transfer to other animals, too. Is that true?
9
::Arianne de Rond: Definitely. Yeah, we can learn so much from animals and not just specific dogs. But dogs were the main animals in my life.
10
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I've had dogs my whole life. I think I'm allergic to them actually.
11
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Oh, I know those are.
12
::Arianne de Rond: Ouch!
13
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: All the time, but I wouldn't be without a dog. It just like
14
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I don't think I've ever had a time in my life when I didn't have a dog in my life.
15
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Usually it's more than once.
16
::Arianne de Rond: So what does that dog or the dogs mean to you?
17
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: They are companions, and they're
18
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: they're kind of like children in a lot of ways. They're they're very much part of my my home and my life, and
19
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: they they all, every one of them, has had their own personality.
20
::Arianne de Rond: Yes, yeah. And that's so true. Right?
21
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah, I think that's the best part of dogs is that they still are their unique selves. And the great part is that you attract the dogs that fit with you at the moment where you are. So that's what we see very often that people have a dog for years and years and years, and the dog dies, and they want the same dog back.
22
::Arianne de Rond: That will never happen, because we are not at the same place in life as we were at that time, and a dog kind of attracts you to you, and then grows with you.
23
::Arianne de Rond: and when you get another dog it comes to where you are at that time, and grows with you again.
24
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Love that. And I can see that with with other other people who have.
25
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I've known who've had dogs, and the
26
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: that does seem to be true.
27
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I think cats kind of fit in there the same way, and dogs and cats together are like.
28
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: they're yeah. They're so interesting.
29
::Arianne de Rond: But there is a big difference between cats and dogs, and I just generalize it a little bit, but I know there's cats who are almost like dogs, and there's dogs who are almost like cats, but the dogs are more socialized and want to be with us where cats are generalized more on their own. They like to be around you, but when they choose but a dog they love to be around you because you want it.
30
::Arianne de Rond: So that's a.
31
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah.
32
::Arianne de Rond: Difference between. But every animal likes connection.
33
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: They like connection with people, too, and it's I. I had a homestead for a while, and I had all kinds of different animals on the homestead, and it it translates to, you know.
34
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: goats and sheep and llamas, and I mean everybody wants connection on some level. You you hear about people that have like pet chickens, even.
35
::Arianne de Rond: I know, and chickens are very smart, but the amazing part from connecting with animals is that they bring the best out of you, but sometimes they also bring the worst out of you, because they just mirror who you are.
36
::Arianne de Rond: and sometimes we don't want to see that, but they do.
37
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: You know you're you're telling. You're as you're saying this. I'm thinking about a dog that I had. Her name was Katie, and a lot of my animals
38
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: my children have given to me over the years. It's like I've had maybe 3 or 4 pets that I picked out, but I got this one dog, and her name was Katie, and it was at a time in my life where I really wanted to escape, and Katie was the worst about escaping and and running off, she would never come back.
39
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And it was I, now that you mentioned that it was like. That's how I was feeling. I just wanted to run away. And
40
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: that's so interesting to me.
41
::Arianne de Rond: So, even if you think back, you still recognize that the patterns were shown to you, even when you didn't see it at that time. Right.
42
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah. And that's what I try to do in my book as well that I really try to see what is the dog revealing in us if we get like angry and frustrated because of their behavior.
43
::Arianne de Rond: Where's that coming from?
44
::Arianne de Rond: Because they might just do it because they don't know better.
45
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, I I yeah. Katie isn't with us anymore. She had diabetes and she passed. But I I have a a new puppy, and I have very old dog. He's like 11 years old now.
46
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: He's the only one allowed in the office, but
47
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: the puppy is the only one that goes on walks.
48
::Arianne de Rond: Oh, okay.
49
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Pain to walk, but he's he has his interesting characteristics, and they're both very different.
50
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: They do get jealous of each other.
51
::Arianne de Rond: Of course. But even that go back to why does that show up?
52
::Arianne de Rond: That's why do you see, or where? Why do you tell that they are jealous because dogs don't know.
53
::Arianne de Rond: so it's what you see in them is coming back to us.
54
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I'll have to think about that.
55
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah, so so it's so I don't I? I never want to judge those things, and and that's a good part from dogs. Dogs don't judge us, but they reveal certain
56
::Arianne de Rond: patterns and behavior, that if we see that in them
57
::Arianne de Rond: it brings it back to who we are, even if we don't want that.
58
::Arianne de Rond: but it reveals something. And if you, if you take that with an open mind and say, like, Okay, I recognize that in my dog.
59
::Arianne de Rond: What does that tell about me?
60
::Arianne de Rond: And if you sit with that.
61
::Arianne de Rond: Your dog will support you, whatever you make of it.
62
::Arianne de Rond: That's the unconditional love. That's why it's so good to not just try to train your dog, but also be open to what you give to your dog.
63
::Arianne de Rond: You get 10 times back.
64
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yes, I I've
65
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: the the more that you pay attention to them and do things with them, and are allow them to be attached to you
66
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: the more you're going to get affection out of them.
67
::Arianne de Rond: Yes, for the you are. Clearly
68
::Arianne de Rond: you are, the more they adjust with
69
::Arianne de Rond: patterns that change. But it is often that we are not clear and consistent in new patterns. So now they get confused and overwhelmed. And they're like.
70
::Arianne de Rond: is it this or this or this? Or this? I don't know.
71
::Arianne de Rond: It's the same as us people, right? We get kind of overwhelmed and confused when too much things come to us.
72
::Arianne de Rond: If we don't have a clear message.
73
::Arianne de Rond: and we're not consistent with the message.
74
::Arianne de Rond: That's what happens.
75
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Do you? Do you coach people, or do you coach people around
76
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: training their dogs? I I'm a little fuzzy on this.
77
::Arianne de Rond: I coach people, and I did a lot of training people with docs as well.
78
::Arianne de Rond: In the beginning, when I trained dogs it was more training actual dogs.
79
::Arianne de Rond: Then it started to move towards.
80
::Arianne de Rond: I cannot train the dogs. The people need to train the dogs because they have the dog all the time around them. So even if I would train them something if you take him home, it doesn't mean that he does the same with you right, that's that clear and consistent part.
81
::Arianne de Rond: And it's actually it's all transforming right now into I don't have to train
82
::Arianne de Rond: the people with the dogs. I just need to train the dog, the people.
83
::Arianne de Rond: and anything that you, as in your personal development change, will right away
84
::Arianne de Rond: be seen by your dog and reflect it back.
85
::Arianne de Rond: And that's the transformation that I did in 30 years.
86
::Arianne de Rond: So right now, it's mostly working with people.
87
::Arianne de Rond: but I do like the dogs part in it. So I always say I work with people who love dogs.
88
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I like that, too. You can learn so much. And they do mirror back to you.
89
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah. And about your own mental state.
90
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah, and the good part with dogs is like, if I go back in my life I had a hard time with fitting in in this world.
91
::Arianne de Rond: I felt everybody was kind of talking a different language. I I didn't understand, but nobody saw me, and they didn't understand me.
92
::Arianne de Rond: But the dogs. They always saw me.
93
::Arianne de Rond: They were always happy. They supported me, they make me feel seen.
94
::Arianne de Rond: and that's the part where I am working as a coach. Now we want that
95
::Arianne de Rond: safe and seem part from the dogs. We want that into this world.
96
::Arianne de Rond: not just with your dog, but in the real world.
97
::Arianne de Rond: and you can only get there if you go back to your true self. Who are you?
98
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: People reflect back not too differently than dogs. What we're putting out.
99
::Arianne de Rond: You're totally right, and you know, if you have had so many different people here, I bet you know, but I like to keep it with dogs. That's way. Easier.
100
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Less confrontational. I think.
101
::Arianne de Rond: True. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think it is. The environment around dogs makes it a little
102
::Arianne de Rond: More safe.
103
::Arianne de Rond: People open their self easier up for docs than
104
::Arianne de Rond: they do for people, I think
105
::Arianne de Rond: because the dogs aren't gonna judge you. And even if they do judge you, and you know there are dogs out there that will judge you if you just don't recognize they're judging you
106
::Arianne de Rond: ugly. Right? Yeah, you're totally right. Yeah.
107
::Arianne de Rond: so. But I think we shouldn't feel just safe and secure and seen with our dogs. But we should
108
::Arianne de Rond: be that person in real life, too. Right.
109
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: For sure I have a story of this. We walk our dog every day, and we have a route that we take. So we run into the same dogs
110
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: that my husband.
111
::Arianne de Rond: Same time, and.
112
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, it's a routine. They know we're coming.
113
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Some of them are are excited, others are like, Get off my lawn. Yeah, there's this one dog. Her name is Sadie.
114
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: She.
115
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I think she has an electric fence, but sometimes she she's she comes out. She she has the strangest behavior. She's wagging her tail, and her butt's going a million miles an hour back and forth, which is like the I'm a friendly, happy dog, and she's got her teeth all bared like
116
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: she's gonna bite you. I swear she's smiling.
117
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: she and she's barking, but it's not the the growling, you know. Get away from me.
118
::Arianne de Rond: So this is. But this is a great point that you bring up. So we have like dogs. They talk with their body right? They talk with their teeth, their mouth, their eyes, their ears, their tail, their whole body right.
119
::Arianne de Rond: and
120
::Arianne de Rond: every dog is unique, so we can guess what they say, but you only know what they say. If you know the dog.
121
::Arianne de Rond: because it's true. There are dogs who can smell. I have one dog, a black Labrador dog, and she does this all the time.
122
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: They do?
123
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Mario.
124
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah. She makes her teeth like she shows her teeth, but her tail is wacky.
125
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: It's the most.
126
::Arianne de Rond: It's it.
127
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Alarming thing when you. The the 1st time I had a dog, smile at me I was asleep, and it was I was at my parents house, and I had a standard poodle, and he was standing there manipulating his lips around his teeth like, Hey, look how now.
128
::Arianne de Rond: But you can imagine if you don't know the dog, and you're like, What is this.
129
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, a little bit taken aback, and I'm I went out and my parents were in the living room, and I said that you know your dog is making weird faces, and they go. Oh, yeah, he smiles at people.
130
::Arianne de Rond: So it's always good to know that there are some dogs who show their teeth, but they're not mean.
131
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah.
132
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And even if they
133
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: like, she's a she's a golden retriever. So she's she's a big dog, and and her teeth are, you know they're sharp and pronounced, and
134
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: they could be meaning business. But
135
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: just with the tail wagging ducks usually, if they're like
136
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: growling at you, and they're showing their teeth, and their their tails are tucked and their hackles are up. Those dogs you need to like. Give them some space because that dog is telling you, hey? Leave me alone, but
137
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: not this dog. She's just like Hi! Hi!
138
::Arianne de Rond: I always tell if the whole body wax with the till normally, that's an okay.
139
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
140
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And we had another incident one time where
141
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: we were walking, Charlie. And we ran into somebody that we knew. And they had a husky, and you know the dogs seem to be doing okay together. And then she just took a chunk of his whiskers in the front like she was giving him a kiss or biting something out of his whiskers.
142
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: He's.
143
::Arianne de Rond: Oh no!
144
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Oh, I'm so sorry there was no growling.
145
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: My dog was just like I don't know what just happened to me, and the other dog is like.
146
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Oh, that was gross!
147
::Arianne de Rond: Right? Yeah. And so now, if things happen like this.
148
::Arianne de Rond: we can make it huge by our reaction. But if we just look at it. It's like, Oh, nothing happened.
149
::Arianne de Rond: Then they forget quickly.
150
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah.
151
::Arianne de Rond: But if any behavior that a dog does, it's our reaction.
152
::Arianne de Rond: Who makes it more or less.
153
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Secret trick is that works with little kids, too.
154
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: We train our, I know.
155
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: like, you know, if they fall down if you're like, oh, yeah, you're so tough. Get right back up and go. And you're smiling. They're like, I'm okay.
156
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah. Yeah. But if you're like, have 4 kids.
157
::Arianne de Rond: As well, so I know.
158
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: But you know again, it's so much easier to save people with their dogs.
159
::Arianne de Rond: As people with their kids. But it is true.
160
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, it's the same kind of reaction that your your kids and your dogs will give you.
161
::Arianne de Rond: I always tell people, do you want to make more of it or less?
162
::Arianne de Rond: That's what you need to think before you do what you do.
163
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah.
164
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And and dogs have good memories.
165
::Arianne de Rond: -
166
::Arianne de Rond: Oh, as and some dogs, they really have good memories, but you know what dogs are are so
167
::Arianne de Rond: So good in patterns that.
168
::Arianne de Rond: If they if they know if they know your routine of walking right, you know you walk every day that same route.
169
::Arianne de Rond: You don't even have to put a leash on, because they will walk their own route, because it's so patterns. But they will start if, and especially if you have that every day at the same time.
170
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah.
171
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah.
172
::Arianne de Rond: Some people tell me, and they say, like my dog, just he can read the clock, I know for sure, but that's not what it is, but they start to read exactly what you do just before we go for the walk.
173
::Arianne de Rond: and then they know. Oh, oh, it's time! Oh! And then, and then they start to trick you
174
::Arianne de Rond: by reacting on certain behavior a little bit earlier, and they move that time to their time.
175
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Hi, and let's do that with food, or one.
176
::Arianne de Rond: Also, but they do it with anything. What they want.
177
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Walking, walking to or like. I buy a treat for my dogs when I go to the grocery store, and I shop on Tuesdays. So.
178
::Arianne de Rond: So they know they are already watering after you come back, because they know that it's coming.
179
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah.
180
::Arianne de Rond: So so sometimes, when you have any behavior from your dog that you are like, I really don't like this
181
::Arianne de Rond: and start to see when that behavior starts to show up, because I bet it is your routine
182
::Arianne de Rond: that brings their behavior in because it knows it gets what he wants.
183
::Arianne de Rond: So what is the trick to do is refill the pattern and then change it up.
184
::Arianne de Rond: If you always go through your front door outside to walk.
185
::Arianne de Rond: and you go to the back door now. Your dog is like, wait, I don't know what you're doing, but I don't know this pattern, and it is their survival mechanism kicks in. It's like, Okay, are we going to the back door? Oh, I start to get a new pattern right?
186
::Arianne de Rond: So it is us who just need to change things up, to change the pattern and change the behavior of our dog.
187
::Arianne de Rond: It's that easy.
188
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: He doesn't even. I have 2 sort of front doors.
189
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: and he only goes in and out one door. Even if the other door is open. It's like no, that's not the door to the outside. This is the door to the outside.
190
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. So it's, it's really silly how it all works. But it's it's actually really simple. How they think right?
191
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Okay.
192
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And it's fun. It's really fun to have dogs. They.
193
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah.
194
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: They really enrich our lives. All pets do. But tugs are just like.
195
::Arianne de Rond: And and that's the other part like, because they are so loving and supporting and like.
196
::Arianne de Rond: why don't we start to be our true self what the dogs already see
197
::Arianne de Rond: so become that more, because then we start to light up our spark, insights and start to shine, and as soon as we do that
198
::Arianne de Rond: it shines to the dog as well. And your dog is like, Oh, my gosh, we're having a great day today. Right?
199
::Arianne de Rond: So that's so. It's not just that they are there for the sad moments, and to make us happy. No, they want to walk with us, to celebrate and be that person, that we should be.
200
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I love that know that you offer a lead with purpose inspired by dogs.
201
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yes, yeah.
202
::Arianne de Rond: I have a free gift, and we will put the links in here on their show notes, I guess, and that will be the lead with purpose helps you to refill that your authenticity, your true self.
203
::Arianne de Rond: is the most important part
204
::Arianne de Rond: in leading, not just your dog, but anything around you with inspiration instead of control.
205
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: So if you want that.
206
::Arianne de Rond: Click that link, and we will send it to you.
207
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: That's so awesome.
208
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: So your website is joyfulsupport.com, and people can get in touch with you. There.
209
::Arianne de Rond: Yeah, yeah, I have a website where I have a lot of information about my philosophy around the dogs and how much we can learn from them, and also that
210
::Arianne de Rond: of course, we have challenges with our dog. Yeah. So it's not that we're not allowed to see them. But what we? What can we change
211
::Arianne de Rond: to make it better?
212
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Below that? And do you work with people in groups? Or do you work with them one on one? How does all that look.
213
::Arianne de Rond: Yes, I I have a course where? I do a 10 week program.
214
::Arianne de Rond: And I also have playgrounds. And those are not their online. They're not for the dogs they're for you. But those playgrounds are really bringing people together. And it's very often in a group that it's so awesome to if you are not confident enough to ask a question.
215
::Arianne de Rond: 9 out of 10 somebody else will ask that question, and you are there so that will help you as well. And yeah, we have the whole course where we have an accountability coaching in there so that we really help you to go week by week, and you know what
216
::Arianne de Rond: I am guiding you. But your biggest supporter is your dog.
217
::Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Do people need to have a dog if they join your community?
218
